New Avengers Trailer

I know it's not tuesday but I had to share this because it's The Avengers and I won't be able to post anything next week. Unfortunately, I'm too hungover (and depressed) to form a complete and coherent paragraph so I'm going to rattle off my thoughts in bullet format.

  • That trailer was way cooler than the last one.
  • Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) are clearly the weak links of that  group. The former has a bow and arrow and the latter has a tiny pistol. Compare that to Thor, the god of thunder and lightening, Captain America, the pinnacle of human fitness and endurance, The Hulk, a roided out green guy with no upper limit to his strength, and Iron Man, a genius billionaire with a super suit. Hawkeye's power is aiming real good and Black Widow's is umm... I actually don't know what her power is, karate and guns?
  • My biggest complaint: everyone is a little too emo for my liking, they should be basking in the glory of their own awesomeness a little bit more
  • I really hope Mark Millar is getting some royalties for this because a few of those scenes looked straight out of his Ultimates comic.

Meet John McClane Jr.

Jai Courtney of Spartacus: Blood and Sand will star as John McClane's son in Die Hard V. He beat out actors such as Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Paul Walker for the coveted role. I'm a huge fan of Breaking Bad so I was pulling for Aaron Paul but that's just the fan boy in me talking. Jai looks more the part.

They're probably arguing over whose killed more people today
The fifth film in the series will focus on John Senior's journey to Moscow to save his estranged son and presumably blow up several cities along the way. Here's the best part: the film is titled A Good Day To Die Hard. I didn't think they could top Die Hard with a Vengeance and Live Free or Die Hard.

Trailer Trash Tuesday: My Triumphant Return Edition

As I'm sure anyone who cares has noticed, I haven't posted on my blog in a long, long, time. I'm sorry about that. Life at school is busier than I anticipated and I recently started writing some video game-related posts on Grouvee.com. Posting on Gamot got pushed to number three on my list.

The bad new is my blog will remain third on that list. Fortunately, I'm making a concerted effort to start posting again. I won't be as reliable as I have been in the past, so don't expect a Trailer Trash every single Tuesday. Also, don't count on any massive top-ten countdowns, those take forever. However, I will post about anything awesome (or awesomely bad) I see either in the movie theater or on Netflix. I'm tentatively aiming for one to two posts a week but bear with me.

Someone has finally answered the age-old question: what happens when you combine Ghostbusters with Snakes on a Plane? Apparently you get something starring Turtle from Entourage

In all seriousness, I think a plane is a pretty clever setting for a horror film. It's completely isolated with no chance of outside help, there's nowhere to run, and you're surrounded by nothing but open air. Horror films aren't my favorite but this managed to somewhat interest me.

Judging from YouTube comments, there are some people that aren't very happy about there being a new Jason Bourne. I don't have a problem with it. If the newest Bourne fails it won't detract from the original three and if it succeeds Legacy could build on the story from Matt Damon's time as the eponymous agent. I'm sure some people opposed Christian Bale as Batman or The Lord of the Rings film adaptations but look how those worked out.

As a history nerd and someone who thinks vampire hunters are the coolest, I'm irrationally excited for this. Honest Abe is going to kick some vampire ass. I can't think of anything else to say... Abraham Lincoln riding a bear. George Washington fighting zombies! A BEAR RIDING ABRAHAM LINCOLN!!
